The National Youth Brass Band of Wales (NYBBW) was established in 1982 and has a long tradition of providing young brass banders with first-class training and performance opportunities.

NYBBW is a double sized band and numbers approximately 50 players. Members are drawn from across Wales and are auditioned annually in centres across Wales.

As with all NYAW ensembles, we pride ourselves in working with experts in the field of brass banding and our tutorial team are drawn from many of the top ranked bands in Wales and the UK. The Band has worked with well-known conductors who are leaders in their field, including Edward Gregson (founding conductor), Robert Childs and current conductor, Philip Harper, conductor of the world famous Cory Band.

In 2020, NYBBW will continue to build on the fantastic work of the last couple of years with conductor Philip Harper and present three concerts across Wales once again.

As in 2019 the Band will meet for a pre-residency rehearsal day, a compulsory element to membership, which will introduce the ensemble to some of the repertoire to be tackled in the summer.
