National Youth Arts Wales

National Youth Arts Wales (NYAW) provides a platform for talented young people by offering exceptional performance and development opportunities for Wales’ young actors, dancers, instrumentalists and singers. We do this through the six national youth arts ensembles:

  • National Youth Theatre of Wales
  • National Youth Orchestra of Wales
  • National Youth Choir of Wales
  • National Youth Brass Band of Wales
  • National Youth Dance of Wales
  • National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales

We champion young performers, allowing them to experiment and engage with the arts at the highest level. We enable young people to experience at first hand the richness of the creative and artistic industries in Wales and with our partners, ensure that future Welsh talent is nurtured and celebrated.

Each year, we hold auditions right across the country to ensure that the brightest and best young talent in Wales is given the opportunity of a lifetime, working towards with internationally renowned artists on our six residential courses. With funding support from Arts Council Wales and all our local authorities as well as other trusts and foundations, we work hard to make the cost of participation affordable. We also offer bursary schemes to anyone for whom price might be a barrier.

While we maintain high standards in our performance opportunities, we work hard to make the audition experience as enjoyable and enriching as possible. If you are aged between 16-22 and interested in finding out more, go to any of the ensemble sections on our website. We do love to chat though so feel free to contact any of our Producers directly!

NYAW also provides year-round developmental opportunities across the art forms as well as one off performance opportunities so follow us on any of our social media channels to keep up to date with what’s on offer.
