“It’s difficult to resist becoming intoxicated by the dream-like atmosphere of a NYTW performance”
Big Issue Cymru

National Youth Theatre of Wales (NYTW) offers world-class training and performance experiences for young people. NYTW creates diverse, risk-taking contemporary theatre and is a flagship for youth theatre in Wales. We offer exciting and inspiring training and performance opportunities working alongside industry professionals. In 2018, National Youth Theatre Wales worked in partnership with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru and Theatr Clwyd to deliver a week-long residency in North Wales which offered an insight into theatre making as well as career paths within the industry.

“I never considered things such as set design and lighting until now and I saw things in a different way. Seeing the way decisions were made on stage, for the stage…I saw the whole operation!”

In 2019, we will continue to work with our partners Theatr Clwyd to create a unique, one off experience for creative and enthusiastic young people who will have access to some of the best industry professionals from Wales and beyond. NYTW members will also have the chance to see professional performances – 2018 members travelled to the Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre and the National Theatre in London to see work and meet cast and stage crew.
