Want to take a trip to the Czech Republic without leaving your seat?

The Vltava river flows through the Czech countryside and the bustling city of Prague. Smetana's music transports you on a journey along its picturesque path. You’ll hear glorious, sweeping melodies inspired by breathtaking scenery that will leave you yearning to visit.

Maybe you're in the mood for something a little more bittersweet?

Richard Strauss was a composer who wrote a lot of music for singers. His Four Last Songs are about love and loss. The soprano is sung by Elizabeth Llewellyn whose voice has been described as “pure operatic joy”. Often described as Strauss’ final farewell, expect music full of gentle heartache.

And if you're looking for something powerful and dramatic?

Shostakovich's Symphony No 5 was written during a time of great political turmoil when the Soviet Union was under the rule of Joseph Stalin. You'll hear hyper-militaristic marches and triumphant, crowd-pleasing brass melodies. But you’ll also hear moments of beauty and sadness. It's like Shostakovich was trying to express all of his feelings about living under Stalin's rule in one piece of music.

These seriously talented young musicians are ready to show off their passion and potential. So, whether you’re a longtime classical music fan or a first-timer, you’ll leave feeling inspired and uplifted.

“Full of inspiration and hope for the future of Wales.”
