National Youth Dance Wales (NYDW) provides some of Wales’ most-talented young dancers with first-class training and performance opportunities. It draws on the energy and excitement of young peoples’ enthusiasm for dance and dancing, and channels it into a creative, contemporary force that celebrates the very best youth dance in Wales today.

Founded in 2000, NYDW has worked with some of the UK’s finest, award-winning choreographers – including Wayne McGregor, Henri Oguike, Errol White, Theo Clinkard, Odette Hughes, Kerry Nicholls and Eleesha Drennan.

In 2020 National Youth Dance Wales will work with a leading choreographer and film-maker to create a dance on film that will be screened nationally and internationally, showcasing some of Wales’ most promising young dancers.

The two stage residencies will give members an insight into creating and developing dance for screen, members will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen their technique and their own artistic voice through a creative process that will stretch and challenge them as dancers.

We aim to provide members with an experience that will illustrate the life of a company dancer, immersing those taking part in a professional environment, and exposing them to working with some of the most exciting dance artists working in the UK and beyond. Our aim is to inspire the next generation of dancers in Wales.
