Perform For Wales

A note from NYCW Producer

“In 2027 we look forward to the first major collaboration between National Youth Arts Wales’ two largest ensembles. Whilst the Orchestra and Choir have a long tradition of working together on smaller works, like Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms in 2018, next year the combined ensemble will tackle major repertoire for the first time in what will be a combined ensemble of approximately 200 fantastic young musicians.”

Matthew Jones OBE

National Youth Choir of Wales Producer

2027 Programme

Conductors: Carlo Rizzi + Tim Rhys Evans

Tim Rhys-Evans is well known to the NYCW having conducted the choir since 2018. As a former member himself, he understands how rewarding the NYCW experience can be for a young singer and as an internationally renowned choral conductor and vocal specialist, he has led the Choir from strength to strength since taking up the reins almost ten years ago.

Tim has worked with Carlo Rizzi on a number of occasions and the two have a fantastic working relationship that will ensure a hugely positive experience for this very special combined ensemble.

Carlo Rizzi is an internationally renowned opera and orchestra conductor who has worked all over the world including La Scala in Italy and The Met in New York as well as having a long-standing relationship with Wales’ own Welsh National Opera.

He has also conducted the National Youth Orchestra of Wales on several occasions and enjoys a special rapport with our members.

Carlo brings with him a wealth of experience and fantastic musicality and has always inspired the NYOW members to perform brilliantly – we’re really looking forward to working with him again next year.

Repertoire: We’re still working on the exact repertoire with some exciting options being considered at the moment.
